My sister and I have been to Las Vegas several times.  We both absolutely love it.  Neither of us are much of gamblers (we don't have that much money) but it is the most exciting city in the U.S.  There are so many things to see and do.  Here is a list of our favorites.

1.  The Bellagio Hotel & Casino:  This is a really cool place to go to, especially at night.  It's one of the few places where people still get really dressed up and go out.  We sat at a piano bar called the Bacarrat Bar for hours and just watched people go by.  They have a beautiful fountain show at night set to classical music.  On our next trip, we want to go to the art gallery there.  It has Monet, which are my favorite, and van Gogh, Picasso, and a lot more.  The admission is only something like $12, we just didn't have the time last year.

2.  The jousting tournament at Excalibur.  This is a really fun dinner show, where you eat cornish game hen with your hands while watching knights riding on horseback in a dueling tournament.  Wonderful service, lots of audience involvement.  Plus I love Excalibur.  It always makes me wish I lived in midievil times.

3.  The coffee shop at New York New York:  How much fun is this place!  Deana and I always start out our weekend there with coffee and a pastry.  The roller coaster at the top of this is a hoot too.  Maybe more so for me than for Deana, since she had to hear me whimper the whole way up there.

4.  Check out the pool at the Monte Carlo and the Tropicana.  We stayed at the Tropicana this year and the good thing about the Trop is the great location to the really cool casinos but without the same high price.  Just walk across the street to the MGM and your set.  The pool area and the chapel at the Trop are fantastic.  The only down side was some really rude employees that work there.

5.  The Lion's Habitat at MGM:  This zoo is built on glass ceilings built above you, so as you walk through the zoo, you can look above you at the lions asleep.  Equally nice are the White Tigers at the Mirage.

6.  The Gondola Ride through the Venetian:  Deana tells me this was cool.  My car phone rang right when I got on and it took me forever to get off.  But only about $12 (give or take) and you get a beautiful ride through the canals and a serenade by your steerer.  I felt like a queen.

7.  The Eiffel Tower at the Parisian:  I have now been up both Eiffel Towers, in Las Vegas and in Paris.  Perhaps the reason I like the one in Las Vegas so much is that it wasn't freezing cold and pouring rain when I went up.  $8, what a deal.  For pictures of me on the real Eiffel Tower, go to my reserves link.

8.  Ralph's Diner at the Stardust.  Deana and I stayed at the Sardust the first time we went.  Very nice, economical, just too long of a hike to some of the other casinos.  I ordered biscuits and gravy and then apple pie.  No fat there!

It's been some time since I've updated this site.  My sister Deana and I went to Vegas each year, but she died shortly after this trip in July 2001.  I have many pictures but am only adding a few for right now.  Working on learning thumbnails.

I hope to add all of our Vegas pics at some time.  I found an entire undeveloped roll in Deana's apartment after her death, from the first trip in 98.

My husband and I saw Tom Jones in concert last August and we are going to stay at the Imperial Palace this month.
Deana:  at the Paris in Las Vegas and above right:  the two of us in front of the Bellagio, her favorite place.  The day after, she flew back to California and I never saw her alive again.
Deana at Tiffany's in the Bellagio.  We had planned on getting some pastry and a coffee to do the scene right, but Deana got a case of shyness and didn't want people staring at her.
